‘Okada’ Rider, Two Passengers Killed In Benin By SUV Driver Alleged To Be Internet Fraudster

Three people, a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly called Okada, lost their lives in accident on Monday night in Benin City, Oredo local government area of Edo State Involving a sports utility vehicle, SUV. has killed three people in Benin City, Oredo local government area of Edo State. The three victims were the rider and his two passengers. 

According to eyewitnesses, the accident, which occurred near the Ogba River bridge happened when the driver of the SUV lost control and rammed into the motorcyclist killing all on board.

Angry fellow commercial motorcyclists who said the deceased rider was the secretary of their association, took to the streets to protest incessant killings in accidents along the Airport Road.

Alleging that the driver of the SUV was an internet fraudster, popularly called Yahoo Yahoo, one of the protesters, Abdullahi Usman, said “These yahoo yahoo boys do not care about another person on the road.

“The accident was very severe. It was the Divisional Police Officer at the Estate Police Station that calmed the situation.”

Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Cyril Matthew Zango, could not be reached for comments.

However, the public relations officer of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu confirmed the accident.

Yamu, a superintendent of police, (SP) said that investigation was on in the matter. “I can confirm to you that the accident and the Okada rider and his passenger were killed. However, investigation is ongoing to bring anyone that is liable to justice,” the police spokesman said.
