Abuja, Nigeria — Outrage is spreading across social media following the arrest of controversial activist and online critic, VeryDarkMan, outside a GTBank branch in Abuja — sparking fierce reactions from fans and celebrities alike.Nigerian music legend Eedris Abdulkareem took to social media to condemn the arrest, demanding immediate action.

“GTBank, you people should release VeryDarkMan immediately. You don’t just arrest and imprison someone for making verbal accusations. You take legal action and let the court decide,” he declared in a viral video now circulating on multiple platforms.

The incident reportedly occurred at GTBank’s Area 3 branch in Abuja, located at Plot 1072, J.S. Tarka, Faskari Street, where VeryDarkMan had gone for personal business. Moments after exiting the bank, he was intercepted and taken away by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).Initial reports triggered public fury, with accusations that the bank tipped off law enforcement — claims that led angry fans to flood GTBank’s customer service lines demanding answers.

In response, GTBank released CCTV footage that appeared to clear its name. The video shows VeryDarkMan leaving the banking hall unbothered, only to be approached by unknown individuals outside the premises. The bank maintains that it had no involvement in the arrest and did not share any customer information with authorities.Despite the footage, public sentiment remains volatile.

VeryDarkMan’s brother accused the bank of betraying his location, calling the arrest “unlawful.” Close associate Kokopee also arrived at the EFCC headquarters with food for the detained activist but was allegedly denied entry.The EFCC has yet to issue an official statement, but VeryDarkMan’s legal team confirmed that he is in their custody.
