Abubakar Ardo, Chairman of Nigeria Association for the Blind, on Thursday, picked a nomination form to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives for the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency in Adamawa on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ardo who said he was in the race to make a difference, if given the opportunity by the party, hinted that his emergence in the country’s political scene would not only make history, but also further enrich democracy.
“Try me for the needed positive change and I promise to make a difference and prove the point that there is ability in disability. I proved that during my days as a student in the Federal College of Education, Yola; Adamawa State Polytechnic and the state university,” he said.
He promised to ensure quality representation for the people of his constituency and the physically challenged if he became a lawmaker.
“I also want to appeal to my only opponent so far for the primaries, to step down for me. If I scale through the primaries, the main election will be a smooth ride by the grace of God,” Ardo said.
He called on the public, Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, and philanthropists, to donate and contribute to his campaign, in order to enable him to realise his ambition.
Ardo who lauded the APC for giving nomination forms free to the physically challenged and women, urged other parties in the country to follow the steps of the APC in order to encourage more participation from the physical challenged and women.
