Residents and commuters in Oshodi, Lagos, are raising urgent concerns over the structural integrity of the area’s last functional bridge, warning that a major disaster could be imminent if immediate action is not taken.

One of the Oshodi bridges was shut down last year due to severe shaking and safety concerns. Now, the only remaining bridge is reportedly showing similar signs of instability, heightening fears of a potential collapse.

“This is an urgent call for help. The first bridge was closed because it became too dangerous, and now the last one left is also unstable. If nothing is done, lives will be at risk,” a distressed resident warned.

Oshodi serves as one of Lagos’ busiest transport hubs, with thousands of vehicles and pedestrians relying on the bridge daily. A collapse could lead to unimaginable chaos, loss of lives, and severe disruptions to movement.

Residents are calling on the Lagos State Government and relevant authorities to intervene immediately, conduct structural assessments, and take necessary action to prevent a looming catastrophe. So far, officials have yet to respond to the growing concerns, but pressure is mounting for swift action before tragedy strikes.
