Ademola Lookman’s future at Atalanta has taken a dramatic turn after Inter Milan reportedly withdrew from negotiations, following weeks of failed attempts to secure his signature.
The Nigerian international is trending after submitting a transfer request at Atalanta, frustrated by the club’s reluctance to sanction his move despite strong interest from Inter.
Sources reveal Atalanta initially demanded €50 million from foreign clubs or €40 million from Italian sides. Inter Milan matched the domestic valuation, tabling a €40m + €3m bid, which was swiftly rejected. A follow-up €40m + €5m offer was also turned down.
Atalanta have since shifted their stance, now insisting on €50 million from Italian clubs as well, a move widely interpreted as an attempt to block the forward’s transfer to a Serie A rival.
Reports suggest the Bergamo-based club are unwilling to strengthen a direct competitor, despite Lookman’s preference to join Inter. The 26-year-old forward remains determined to push for the move, but unless interest emerges from outside Italy, he may be forced to stay at Atalanta.
With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Lookman’s situation remains one of the most closely watched stories in Italian football.
