Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Monday, inspected some ongoing road construction and repairs in Benin City, the state capital, in the course of which he lamented that the deplorable state of the roads had made life unbearable for residents.

The Governor visited Upper Mission Road Extension by Aduwawa junction, Obadan junction, and Benin-Auchi Expressway to ascertain the level of work done since contractors were mobilised to sites.

Okpebholo noted that the failed portions at Upper Mission Extension had made life unbearable for residents and traders alike in the area.

He said his administration was ready to work round the clock to fix the road and make Edo people happy.

He said the mandate of his administration was to transform the state and promised Edo people that he would key into the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to make their lives better.

According to Senator Okpebholo, “The failed portion at Upper mission extension road was terrible, and last week, I came to look at the rate of damage as vehicles found it difficult to pass the road. Businesses and people around this area are suffering.

“My administration is determined to solve the problem and put smiles on the faces of the people.

“The President is not happy the way Edo is, and you can see that we are already working as he will join us to fix Edo State and that, we must surely accomplish.”

Describing the Obadan Road as very important and strategic to the state, Governor Okpebholo said when the road is fixed, it would boost commerce and industry and open up the state for economic growth and development.

“This road”, he stated, “is very important to us. It leads to Agbor, Onitsha, and Northern parts of the country. The road is very strategic to us as a state. It is located in Edo State, and it is important as it will boost the economy of the state.

“Looking at the state of roads, I have to key into Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as we are not going to stop. We have already started working. Our mandate is to transform Edo State and make it a place that we all will be proud of.

“We assumed office about six days ago, and we have hit the ground running and will continue to work as we are flagging off flyovers in Edo State. It is work, work, and more work for my administration”.
