He is coming in as the 47th American President. Four years ago, he unwillingly vacated the White House as the 45th President. He did not have the courtesy or patriotism of the 46th (President Joe Biden) to say farewell. He never accepted losing the 2020 Presidential election which he lost “with deposit” …
What’s the meaning of that? Did he deposit any money before the election?
It means he lost woefully. That was the term used during the days of our own parliamentary elections when Nigeria was Nigeria.
‘Xcuse me, how do you mean by that statement, when Nigeria was Nigeria. Is Nigeria now Ethiopia or Swaziland?
Small boy, you are! You don’t know nothing. Nigeria used to be a country of hope, pride and joy, with a lofty dream of being a UNITED, indivisible nation, a giant in the Sun and a beacon of hope for the rest of Africa. Then something snapped.
And what was that?
Things fell apart. The center could not hold. Mere anarchy loosed upon the country.
That one na literature. What happened gan gan gan an?
The politicians overshot the runway of “becareful”. They toook too much for the men in khaki uniform not to notice.
What did they overdo for the center not to hold them together for those people to do something?
Legion. They were many. It all started with the game of tribalism, nepotism and ethnic jingoism coupled with unbridled corruption. Election results were rigged left, right and center and violence erupted all over the country but most of the carnage and bloodletting was concentrated in the then “Wild Wild West” where “Operation wet e” was more than wetting cloths on the ironing table.
Wild, wild, west where? In America or where? That apart which one is operation bed wetting. Ever doing Wet e? What the heck is this “wet e”?
Yes, wetting (dousing) political opponents with gasoline and setting them ablaze!
That’s funny though weird, well, I’m enjoying your ELONKOKO digression. Spoke on.! Spoke on! Fire on. Funwontan.
What’s that?
Give them in quantum. Wholesale. No retail.
You are not serious. Setting people ablaze is not a laffing matter. Is it? By the way, where are we gan an? Yes, I can remember…The aftermath of the roiling political crisis was the coup of January 15, 1966, that resulted in the killing of notable political leaders like Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, Premier of the “Wild, wild West”, aka AwokoOlohunyo , and Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Prime Minister aka the Golden Voice of Africa. Nigeria became a captured territory by its own soldiers, and like it always happens there began an unbridled free for all plundering and squandering of the commonwealth. We have never been the same again.
You want to draw a parallel with the change of guards today in Washington?
Why not if not? Trump and his “army” of extreme right-wing conservatives and the “paramilitary” back up of super rich businessmen are all set for ultra-right wing conservative policies that are not and cannot be favourable to the masses. America’s taxpayers will be sidelined in policies and measures that are meant to be payback for the political god fathers. Nigerians who think we will be better served by a Trump conservative administration because of his FAKE stand on religion are in for a rude shock. With Donald J Trump in power trouble is enthroned. For us and the innocent, already downtrodden people of the entire universe this man is evil personified. America’s image of being a citadel of DEMOCRACY is going to suffer a mortal blow. Democracy, as we know it today, will never be the same again when he finally leaves or is FORCED OUT in four years’ time.
Na curse?
For where? Just keep watch. Start watching the EVIL GENIUS as from today and you will definitely have a story to tell pretty soon.
How about you?
Who cares? A people deserve the leader they elect. If he chooses to be good, AGUNLA. And if he chooses to live up to the billing of being a Putin in power, hmmm…AGUNTETE.
