A younger brother to Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has been reported kidnapped. It was gathered that the younger Shaibu, identified as Frederick, was abducted on Monday by some gun men in the outskirts of Benin when he was conveying his children to school.
Sources close to the Shaibu family told Tell Tuesday evening that the suspected kidnappers were yet to contact the family.

According to one of the sources, “They attacked him and took him away. It happened in Aruogba area, Irhirhi at around 7 am when he was going to drop his children in school. The children were left behind by the gunmen who took their father away. But the incident has been reported to security agencies. The people are yet to contact us for negotiation. It is believed that the kidnappers came through the river because people who saw the incident said they went through the bushes in that area that leads to the riverside. Security agencies have been informed and they are doing everything possible to ensure that he is released unhurt and be reunited with his family”.

However when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Chidi Nwabuzor said he was yet to be briefed about the incident. “I am not aware of this development yet but I will find out and get back to you.”
