49 Killed in Mass Shooting at Mosques in New Zealand

No fewer than 49 people were confirmed dead and over 20 others seriously injured, after gunmen opened fire at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch on Friday.
An eyewitness to the horror confirmed that a gunman ran out of the mosque, dropped what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon in Peneha’s driveway, and fled.
“The gunman was white and was wearing a helmet with some kind of device on top, giving him a military-type appearance.
“I saw dead people everywhere. There were three in the hallway, at the door leading into the mosque, and people inside the mosque,” he said.
“I don’t understand how anyone could do this to these people. It’s ridiculous.”
New Zealand Police also confirmed an update on the shooting, that a 28-year-old man has been charged with murder and will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Saturday morning. Two others remain in custody.
“There are community events planned across the country this weekend and there will be a visible Police presence at these events for safety and reassurance,” the force also said.”
Adiq Khan, the mayor of London, has tweeted his condolences to the victims of the attack, and confirmed that there will be “highly visible” and armed police around mosques in the UK capital on Friday.
“I want to reassure the Muslim communities in London. I have been in touch with the Met Police. There will be highly visible policing around mosques today, as well as armed response officers, as Londoners go to pray,” he said.
London has a large Muslim community. In 2017, one person was killed and several were injured when a man drove a van into pedestrians near Finsbury Park Mosque in north London.
Despite the assurances, however, Police has not yet figured out the accurate number of people that were injured or killed, but has urge resident that stays around Christchurch to be indoor.
