The Nigeria Police Force has said seven of its 35 personnel that went missing after an attack on the Police Mobile Force training camp in Gworza, Borno State, have been rescued.
This was made known on the official twitter handle of the Nigerian Police. The camp was reportedly attacked by members of the extremist Boko Haram sect.
The Police Force on its twitter handle, @PoliceNG, confirmed the rescue. It said the rescue mission was carried out on Monday, August 25. It also stated that the search for the 28 officers who were yet to be found has been intensified.
Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Public Relations Officer of the Force, also confirmed this in Abuja. He said the officers were found in the last three days. He expressed hope that the others would be rescued soon.
Following the attack, Suleiman Abba, the acting Inspector-General of Police, has directed that security be tightened in and around all police facilities across the country.
The Boko Haram extremist group has carried out series of attacks on villages, churches, schools, mosques and public places particularly in North Eastern states.
