Tragedy Averted As Enugu Air With 68 Passengers On Board Skids Off Runway At Benin Airport

It was a lucky escape for 68 passengers on board Enugu Air from Lagos on Thursday as their plane overshot the runway at the Benin Airport while landing.

Though there were no casualties, several passengers were however injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The flight was said to have been cleared to land, but apparently due to heavy downpour of rain, overshot the runway.

Some family members who had arrived the airport to receive their loved ones were seen shouting praises to God and rushing the injured to the hospital.

None of the staff of the Enugu Air on ground declined to talk to journalists but a staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who would not want to be identified, said, “I cannot tell you anything because investigation would be carried out by necessary authorities and the reports would be sent to our head office.”
