An 11-year-old boy caught dressed in police uniform with the rank of a sergeant has been arrested in Benin by men of the Edo State police command and would soon be arraigned at a juvenile court. The boy whose name was not given, was allegedly part of the mob that invaded and looted the Oba Market police station, Ring Road in Benin City, carting away arms, ammunition, and police uniforms.
The young “policeman” was said to have been arrested at Evbuotubu area after he was found dressed in the uniform moments after an attack on another police station there. Apparently ignorant of the implication of his action, he was said to have declared himself the Inspector General of Police and was parading himself around town while some of his peers hailed and clapped for him.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody awaiting prosecution.
