Abia Commissioner Dies of Gun Attack

Kenneth Nwosu, Abia State commissioner for Agriculture has died of the wounds he sustained after suspected assassins shot him on Wednesday, July 9.

Nwosu was attacked by unknown gunmen on his way from Umuahia, the state capital, while driving along the Umuajata/Amakama road to his home situated at Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area.

Eze Chikamnayo, Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, announced Nwosu’s death saying that the Agriculture commissioner died last Monday night at the state Specialist Hospital, Umuahia, where he had been receiving medical care.

Chikamnayo described Nwosu’s death as a sad one for the government and the entire people of Abia State adding that the late commissioner was a colossus and the best hand in agriculture.

The Information commissioner added that Theodore Orji, the state governor, had ordered security agents to do everything possible to fish out those behind the killing, asserting that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
