The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC said it has deployed more fuel tanks to ease the long queues of motorists in the various fuel stations in Abuja, the federal capital territory and its environs.
In a statement, Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, group public affairs division, NNPC, urged the public to resist the “temptation of hoarding, product diversion and panic buying of petroleum products.”
Alegbe said the corporation has enough petroleum products in its reserves to serve up to 30 days demand.
He attributed the scarcity to the challenge of effective distribution of the product as a result of the just concluded general elections in the country.
The NNPC spokesman who warned against diversion of the product by those he called “unscrupulous marketers” said there would be appropriate sanctions for anyone who engage in such unpatriotic acts.
