While accreditation continues in most parts of Oyo State, there are reports of faulty card readers in some areas and some INEC officials missing their way around. While these issues are being fixed by INEC, soldiers could be seen manning some major roads in the state. In fact there are more security personnel in Oluyole LGA.

Meanwhile Olajumoke Akinjide, minister of FCT, has expressed dissatisfaction with the working of the card readers at Unit 2 Ward 1 at Akanran-Amosun, in Ona-Ara LGA,Ibadan.

“The card readers have not been working well when it comes to verification of the person holding the card,” she said. Akinjide stated this after she was accredited. But Catherine Iorhemen, the presiding officer and the party agents said the exercise has been going on smoothly.

TELL observed that the machines worked smoothly, but there are instances where the voter had to repeat the process and some cards could not be read at all. Also at the unit, there were two cases of identified voters not having their names on the register.

The Presiding Officer said such people will be allowed to vote “but not using the normal ballot paper, they will use tender ballot papers.”

Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo State governor also described the process as excellent. Richard Akinjide, former attorney-general and minister of justice also expressed satisfaction.

At unit 5 Idi Ose in Ona Ara, the accreditation process is very slow. Ejiofor Daniel, the Presiding officer said the only card reader malfunctioned earlier but it has been fixed. He said that they have so far accredited over 170 voters out of 511 registered voters as at 12:20 pm
