The All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area has officially launched what insiders describe as an aggressive, grassroots-driven strategy aimed at reclaiming Osun State in the 2026 governorship election.

At a high-level strategic meeting held Thursday in Obokun, party leaders and elected councillors gathered to outline a structured roadmap designed to consolidate party unity, rebuild ward structures, and intensify voter engagement well ahead of the August 2026 poll.

The session was convened by influential APC leader and former lawmaker Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, who previously served in the Osun State House of Assembly. The closed-door meeting brought together all APC councillors across the wards in the local government area, marking one of the earliest coordinated local level moves in the build-up to the election.

According to sources familiar with the deliberations, discussions centered on three major pillars: strengthening coordination between party structures, auditing and reinforcing ward-level political machinery, and laying the groundwork for sustained voter mobilization across communities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, councillors issued a communiqué outlining four core commitments: maintaining uncompromising discipline and internal harmony, ensuring clear and consistent strategic communication, intensifying door-to-door ward mobilization, and sustaining deep engagement with constituents.

Addressing attendees, Oyintiloye delivered a firm message emphasizing unity and discipline as the foundation of victory.

“We must remain disciplined and united — no excuses, no division — as we march toward the 2026 governorship election. Our real power is not in Abuja or Osogbo; it is right here at the ward level,” he said, urging party members to rebuild trust from the grassroots upward.

He stressed that councillors, as the closest representatives to the people, carry the critical responsibility of converting grassroots support into electoral success.

In response, the councillors unanimously pledged to lead by example through transparent conduct, significantly scale up mobilization efforts in their respective wards, strengthen collaboration among party stakeholders, and promote a unified vision of sustainable development and good governance for Osun State.

Political observers view the Obokun initiative as a calculated early maneuver designed to position the APC strategically ahead of rival parties. With reports suggesting similar mobilization efforts may soon emerge in other local government areas, analysts say the party appears determined to avoid past missteps and mount a disciplined, coordinated ground campaign.

As political positioning intensifies across Osun’s landscape, the Obokun APC’s ward-focused blueprint has already sparked debate about whether the party’s early mobilization could shape the trajectory of the 2026 contest.

With more than a year to go before voters’ head to the polls, one thing is clear: the battle lines in Osun are already being drawn.
