Tensions are heating up in Osun State as the All-Progressives Congress (APC) publicly declared that its 2026 gubernatorial ticket is “not for sale to the Adeleke family,” following a high-profile visit by Afrobeat superstar Davido and his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The statement, credited to Hon. Timothy Owoeye, a senior APC lawmaker in the state, appears to have been triggered by growing speculation that the Adeleke political dynasty may be plotting a switch to APC or seeking influence ahead of the next elections.
“The APC ticket is not for sale, especially not to the Adeleke family,” Owoeye reportedly stated during a press briefing in Osogbo. “Our party cannot be hijacked for personal interests or political theatrics.”
But Davido, known as much for his chart-topping hits as his unfiltered online presence, didn’t let the jab slide. The singer swiftly fired back on social media, mocking Owoeye with a cryptic jab tied to past controversy — referencing an incident where the lawmaker was allegedly caught bathing at a public market, in what many claimed was a pre-election ritual.
While the lawmaker never formally addressed the viral footage, the incident resurfaced as Davido used the opportunity to hint at hypocrisy in the APC ranks.
Social media erupted, with “APC Not for Sale” and “Market Bath” trending on X (formerly Twitter), as users debated the morality, politics, and spectacle of Osun’s unfolding drama.
The Adeleke family, known for blending entertainment and politics, continues to spark both admiration and controversy in Nigeria’s political landscape. As 2026 elections loom, the political temperature in Osun is clearly rising — and the online mudslinging may be just beginning.
