For Oba Femi, the journey to global fame began with a dream he never thought could come true.

Born Isaac Odugbesan in Lagos, the Nigerian star has opened up about how he went from being a casual fan of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to becoming one of its fastest-rising superstars.

Growing up in Nigeria, wrestling felt worlds away. “I loved it, but it didn’t feel possible,” he has said in past interviews, reflecting on the challenge of pursuing a career in an industry largely based in the United States.

Instead, he focused on athletics, building a strong reputation in shot put during his time at Middle Tennessee State University and later the University of Alabama, where he became a three-time SEC champion.

But everything changed in 2021.

Out of the blue, WWE recruiters contacted him through the company’s NIL program. At first, he thought it might be a scam. After verifying the offer, he took a chance that would redefine his future.

That decision paid off.

After impressing coaches at a Las Vegas tryout, Oba Femi earned a developmental contract and began training at WWE’s Performance Center. Within a short time, he made his in-ring debut and quickly stood out for his power, agility, and commanding presence.

His rise has been nothing short of explosive.

He dominated WWE’s NXT brand, making history as the first NIL recruit to win championship gold — capturing both the NXT North American and NXT Championships. Today, he is making waves on the main roster, including appearances at major events like the Royal Rumble.

Beyond the ring, he has remained deeply connected to his roots, proudly representing Nigeria on the global stage. In conversations with WWE executive Stephanie McMahon, he has spoken about inspiring young Africans to believe in possibilities beyond their environment.

Now training under legends like Shawn Michaels and Triple H, the 27-year-old has set his sights on even bigger goals — including becoming a world champion.

His story is already resonating far beyond wrestling.

From Lagos to the bright lights of WWE, Oba Femi is proving that with talent, discipline, and the courage to take a chance, even the most unlikely dreams can become reality.

More updates will follow as his rise continues.
