Reports from Ogun State indicate that though the opposition backed by the outgoing governor, Ibikunle Amosun is currently challenging the election of Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, APC as governor of the state in court Amosun may have resorted to self-help on the issue. Barely one week to the inauguration of the new administration Amosun’s administration decided to start rehabilitation projects that are obviously aimed at frustrating the inauguration.
Two critical public facilities for the inauguration have had access to them blocked by the government. They are the MKO Abiola Stadium and the June 12 Cultural Centre.
Photos show that the Cultural centre which had been advertised as the venue of an inauguration lecture Thursday not only have its entrance blocked with sand it also had a bulldozer conspicuously parked there.
The suspicion is that the outgoing government chose to start these projects on the eve of inauguration to frustrate the program of events.
Efforts at getting reactions from the government did not yield fruit as at press time.
