Suleiman Abu Ghaith, a son-in-law of Osama Bin Laden, has been sentenced to life imprison after being found guilty of terrorism by an American court. Abu Ghaith 48-year-old was convicted by a Manhattan federal jury.
He was indicted for conspiring to kill Americans and to provide material support for terrorists. U.S. District Judge, Lewis Kaplan pronounced the sentence. “You, sir, in my assessment, are committed to doing everything you can to assist Al Qaeda in its mission to kill Americans,” she said.
The convict, who was said to be unrepentant, reportedly stated in Arabic, “Today, at the same moment when you are shackling my hands and intend to bury me alive, you are at the same time unleashing the hands of hundreds of Muslim youths and they will join the rally of the free man.” Abu Ghaith is also said to have quoted the Quran declaring that he would not beg for mercy from anyone but God.
