A fallen 40-foot container caused a major traffic jam on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Otedola Bridge on Monday evening, leaving commuters stranded for hours. The incident, which occurred around 6 p.m. close to the Capital Oil filling station, disrupted movement of motorists travelling from Alausa and other parts of Lagos.

Authorities, including personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Lagos State Fire Service, and the Nigeria Police, quickly intervened to save the situation and clear the container. However, the gridlock persisted as the cleanup efforts were underway, affecting both outbound and inbound traffic.

The accident coincided with the evening rush hour, exacerbating delays for thousands of road users. Motorists have been advised to exercise patience and consider alternative routes until the area is fully cleared.
