Shinzo Abe, Japanese Prime Minister, has assured Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s President-elect, that his country would strongly support the Nigerian government under his in coming administration.
In a special message delivered to Buhari by the Japanese Embassy officials in Abuja, the Prime Minister described Buhari’s victory at the recently concluded presidential election as a success for him as well as other nationals.
Abe, who personally signed the message, assured Buhari that Japan would work closely with him to promote the level of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Abe noted that under Buhari’s leadership, the stability and development of Nigeria, being a leading country in Africa, would definitely contribute to peace and stability in the entire African continent.
The Prime minister also expressed readiness to support the president elect and Nigeria at large to make the first Tokyo International Conference on Africa, TICAD, slated to hold in Africa next year, to be successful.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency for being elected as the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The conduct of peaceful transition of the power is testament of how
democracy is rooted in your country. This is not only your victory but also your nationals,” the Japanese prime minister stated.
