Cholera Hits Borno IDPs CampAt least 16 people have died as a result of cholera outbreak in three internally displaced persons, IDPs, camps in Borno state, while over 171 others are in critical conditions.

Health workers have been deployed to the affected camps on Mafa along Dikwa/Ngala road in Maiduguri in response to the outbreak, reports say.

Officials of the health workers’ team have admitted that the situation needs urgent attention, as about 16 people have already lost their lives to the disease.  The officials however said the situation would soon be brought under control with the joint effort of the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF who are also on ground to control the spread of the disease.
