The Ebonyi State House of Assembly, during its first sitting, passed a resolution withdrawing the 2O15 budget proposal sent to it by Martin Elechi, the immediate past governor.

The request for budget withdrawal was sent to the House by Dave Umahi, the state governor, and described as being for the overall interest of the state.

Moving the motion, Joseph Nwobasi, Leader of the House, representing Ezza North East Constituency, stressed that it became necessary to approve the request because the Commissioners of the past government refused to honour invitations for budget defense.

The House also approved the request by the governor, which sought for the appointment of six senior advisers.

Meanwhile, General Managers of various corporations and Heads of parastatals in Ebony State were, recently, sacked by the state government. The government has also dissolved 11 boards and parastatals.

The boards dissolved are the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation,EBBC, Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board,EBUBEB, Secondary Education Board,SEB, Capital Territory Development Board and Ebonyi State Water Corporation.

Others include the Environmental Protection Agency, EBSEPA, Ebonyi State Road Maintenance Agency, EBROMA, Community and Social Development Board, Christians and Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, Land Allocation Committee, Housing Development Corporation Board and the Local Government Service Commission, LGSC, among others.

A statement signed by Benard Odoh, Secretary to the State Government, SSG, stated that the government directed the General Managers and Heads of Parastatals to hand over to the most senior officials in their offices and vacate immediately.

He commended the General Managers and Heads of parastatals for their service to the state, adding that the dissolution was in line with the resolutions of the State House of Assembly.

Most of the General Managers and Heads of Parastatals have stayed for sixteen years before their disengagement by the present government.
