Eto’o Retires from International Football

Samuel Eto’o, Everton strikerhas announced his retirement from international football. Former Chelsea striker Etoo’ joined Everton with a two-year deal on free transfer on Tuesday.

“I wish to inform you that I hereby put a definitive end to my international career, ” Etoo said on his Instagram page.

“On this occasion, I wish to thank all Africans in particular and all my fans around the world for their love and unconditional support,” he added.

The former Barcelona, Inter and Real Madrid player made his international debut in 1997 during a 5-0 defeat to Costa Rica.

His last match for Cameroon was the 1-0 defeat by Mexico at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
