There are now sections of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State closed by the Federal Government.
This implies that for the next two weeks, drivers won’t be able to use the ramps that go to Adekunle and Ebute Meta.
On Monday, around 9am in the morning, the sections were closed by the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
The 11.8 kilometre bridge’s main deck is open to traffic, but work on the blocked parts is anticipated to start right away and take two weeks. The two ramps that lead from Adekunle to Lagos Island and Oworonshoki will take a further three weeks.
It is recommended that drivers take alternate roads such as Gbagada, Ojota, Murtala Mohammed Way, and Ikorodu Road.
The Third Mainland Bridge ramp will be closed for two weeks while extensive repairs are made, according to Federal Controller of Works Olukorede Kesha in Lagos.
Minister of Works David Umahi stated during his most recent inspection visit of federal infrastructure in Lagos that the entire bridge will be completely resurfaced with the least amount of inconvenience to drivers, and that the repairs would be completed by midnight over the weekend.
One of the busiest bridges in the nation, the Third Mainland Bridge, underwent a series of renovations from Friday, July 24, 2020, to January 24, 2021. It was to replace the worn-out expansion joints and bearings.
