Book Haram Undertakes Another Tragic Attack on Borno State’s Rice Plantation

Another attack by Boko Haram in one of the towns in Borno state has left families and the authorities mourning. The attack, which was carried out last Sunday November 5, left no less than 11 farmers dead. In fact, there are claims, though unconfirmed, that more deaths may have been recorded. Reports also indicates that many more people were abducted by the terrorists.
The farmers were at the state rice foundation, a location that had been under attack in the past.

The victims were said to have been gruesomely killed in the incident which occurred on Sunday, November 5, near Zabarmari, a community in Borno State’s Jere Local Government Area. November is the mouth of harvest.

Recall that in November 2020, Boko Haram massacred approximately 110 rice farmers in this area, an incident that sparked nationwide reactions.

The insurgents struck once more in the same month, three years later.

They attacked Kalku, a community in the same local government district that is 40 kilometres away from Zabarmari.

It was gathered that eleven farmers were beheaded, while several more who attempted to flee were shot at.

Sources say that about 11 farmers were beheaded due to their inability to pay the demanded ransom.

The incident comes hours after Boko Haram insurgents killed a businessman and four others at his farm near Bama town, Borno’s second largest community.

In August 2023 the insurgents released 42 Kidnapped women after intense negotiations in Jere LGA. The victims had been kidnapped from an IDP camp, with their assailants demanding huge amount of money for their liberty.

Also, in June 2023, Boko Haram insurgents killed youths in Muna community, Jere LGA.
