The partnership, announced on Thursday, October 29, 2026, will support the film’s world premiere in London and its homecoming premiere in Lagos, bringing together content creators, celebrities and audiences to showcase Nigerian storytelling to international viewers.

Akindele announced the collaboration on her social media platforms, expressing excitement about working with Facebook to extend the reach of her latest production.

“We’re taking THE FOUR to the world, and Facebook is coming with us,” she said.

According to Meta’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, Oluwasola Obagbemi, the partnership will demonstrate how Facebook helps creators connect with audiences, build communities around shared interests and reach people across geographical boundaries.

The initiative will also create opportunities for Nigerian creators at home and in the diaspora to participate in the film’s promotional activities and share content surrounding its premieres.

The partnership represents another major promotional move by Akindele as she seeks to build on the remarkable commercial success of her previous production, Behind The Scenes.

Released in December 2025, the film became the first Nollywood production to surpass ₦2 billion in box-office revenue, grossing more than ₦2.1 billion.

It also became the fastest West African film to cross the ₦1 billion milestone and recorded an impressive ₦129.5 million in a single day on Boxing Day 2025, setting a new record for the highest single-day cinema earnings in Nollywood at the time.

With those achievements, expectations are high for her new production, The Four: No One Fights Alone, which is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on December 11, 2026.

However, Akindele is not the only Nollywood filmmaker attracting attention with unconventional promotional strategies ahead of the festive cinema season.

Her colleague and industry rival, Toyin Abraham, also made headlines after arriving at the FilmOne Exhibition Showcase on Thursday with approximately four live goats to promote her forthcoming movie, Bestie.

The unusual entrance quickly generated reactions on social media, with videos showing the animals accompanying the actress at the event.

While some social media users described the move as creative and entertaining, others questioned the promotional strategy.

The timing of the two promotional appearances has further fuelled conversations about the December box-office contest between Akindele and Abraham.

Akindele’s The Four: No One Fights Alone is scheduled for December 11, while Abraham’s Bestie will arrive in cinemas five days later, on December 16.

The competing release dates have revived social media comparisons between the two actresses, who have established themselves as major commercial forces in the Nigerian film industry.

Abraham is also looking to build on the success of her previous production, Oversabi Aunty, which crossed the ₦1 billion mark at the Nigerian box office.

Although the rivalry surrounding the actresses is largely driven by fan discussions and industry comparisons, their latest promotional activities demonstrate the growing competition for audience attention during Nollywood’s lucrative December cinema season.

With Facebook backing Akindele’s international promotional campaign and Abraham generating attention with her unusual goat-themed appearance, movie lovers can expect an intense battle for cinema audiences as both filmmakers prepare to release their latest projects.

Ultimately, the December contest will be decided by audience reception, cinema attendance and box-office performance rather than promotional stunts or social media popularity.
