A roasted corn seller who recently went viral after claiming she earns ₦2.5 million every month from her roadside business has sparked another wave of reactions online after appearing in a new video pleading for assistance.

The woman, whose earlier statement generated widespread attention on social media, was seen in the latest viral clip sitting beside her corn stand under the scorching sun while expressing frustration over her condition.

In the video, she questioned why she would still be struggling despite the huge income figure attributed to her.

“I’m making ₦2.5 million, yet I’m still standing under the sun? Since I started this corn business, I have never made that kind of money. Nigerians, please help me,” she said.

Her latest statement comes days after another video of her surfaced online, where she was quoted as saying that her roasted corn business generates millions of naira monthly.

The claim immediately attracted attention, with many Nigerians expressing doubts over whether a roadside corn seller could realistically make such an amount every month, especially amid rising costs of goods, transportation and other business expenses.

Following the new video, social media users reacted with a mixture of disbelief, criticism and humour, with many saying they were confused by the conflicting narratives.

Some of the comments included:

“We can’t help someone making ₦2.5 million naira every month. Na she suppose help us 😂.”

Another user wrote:

“Mama’s children have watched the video and descended heavily on her. Her new video will not trend like the initial one.”

Others questioned the credibility of the original claim, saying:

“She don use lie pursue her destiny helper.”

Another commenter added:

“Help you with what, ma? Enjoy your ₦2.5 million and leave us alone.”

Some Nigerians also raised concerns about how quickly public sympathy can disappear when viral claims are questioned.

One user said:

“As far as I’m concerned, she makes ₦2.5 million Naira every month. She doesn’t need anybody’s help.”

Another wrote:

“She bragged to the whole internet, now crying under the sun asking for help. So where did 30 months of ₦2.5M go exactly?”

The controversy has also led to speculation among some online users that the original claim may have been exaggerated for attention or linked to broader online narratives about economic conditions in the country. However, no evidence has emerged to confirm such claims.

Beyond the social media debate, the incident has renewed conversations about the realities faced by informal business owners across Nigeria. Many roadside traders work long hours in difficult environments while dealing with high operating costs, unstable income and limited access to financial support.

The episode also highlights the unpredictable nature of viral fame, where a statement that attracts public admiration today can quickly become a subject of criticism when circumstances change.

As reactions continue to trail the video, Nigerians remain divided over whether the woman’s appeal deserves sympathy or whether her earlier claim has affected public perception of her situation.
