The Fusengbuwa Ruling House has officially rejected the royal lineage claim submitted by Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1), declaring his application “null, void, and unacceptable” in the ongoing process to fill the vacant Awujale of Ijebuland throne.
In a formal statement issued on December 11, 2025, the ruling house outlined multiple reasons for the rejection, including:
* Missing signatures on the submitted documents * An unrecognised family head, whose endorsement is invalid * No verified membership of KWAM 1 within the Fusengbuwa lineage
KWAM 1 had argued that he descended from the Adeburu branch through his paternal grandmother and also possessed royal ties through another ruling house from his father’s side.
He backed his claim with references to titles previously bestowed upon him by the late Awujale, who reigned for 65 years.
However, the Fusengbuwa House insists that his connection is not recognised within the official genealogical structure.
With the throne now vacant following the passing of the respected monarch, the Fusengbuwa House—next in the rotational line after four ruling families—has begun the final stages of its selection process.
Candidates from eligible family branches are expected to be nominated on or before December 15, after which the kingmakers will choose the next paramount ruler of Ijebuland in Ogun State.
The development has fueled intense public discourse, as the Fuji legend’s supporters argue for his cultural influence and long-standing relationship with the royal court, while traditional authorities insist on strict adherence to lineage rules.
The battle for the revered Awujale throne continues to dominate conversations across Yorubaland as the December deadline approaches.
