Issa Hayatou Replaces Blatter As FIFA’s Acting President

FIFAIssa Hayatou, president of the Confederation of AfricanFootball, CAF has been named as replacement for Sepp Blatter whose reign as FIFA president was cut shot yesterday by ethics committee of the organisation. Blatter, 79, was handed a 90-days suspension and stripped of all duties by the ethics committee for allegedly making an over bloated two million Swiss francs (about £1.3million) payment to UEFA president Michel Platini. Hayatou, prior to his appointment, has been a long-standing senior FIFA vice-president. Born in Garoua, Cameroon on August 9, 1946, Hayatou was an athlete turned administrator. He represented Cameroon in basketball and middle-distance race before going on to become CAF president in 1988.
