Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State said on Sunday that late Lateef Kayode Jakande, the first civilian governor of the state scored first in all aspects of governance. Sanwo-Olu who led members of his cabinet to the house of Jakande at Ilupeju, Lagos said what the deceased achieved in office has not been surpassed by any of the governors after him. He said the deceased laid the foundation for the development of Lagos. According to the incumbent governor, the former governor was “a builder of our time, a man that laid the foundation of a Lagos that all of us are attempting and are trying to develop and put layers on”.
The visit by the Lagos government was one of such high profile respects to the former governor over the weekend. Others include visits by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the House of Representatives.
