The Jamaican Cabinet has passed a bill, legalising the possession of a small quantity of marijuana.
If passed into law, the bill would ensure that those in the country’s Rastafarian Community, who use the herbs for religious purposes, could now smoke it legally.
The bill also proposes a licensing authority for the cultivation, sale and distribution of marijuana for medical and therapeutic purposes.
The bill also proposes that the smoking of marijuana will be banned in public spaces.
The bill still needs to go to Senate for Approval.
