The administration of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced that it has set aside a princely sum of N4.8 billion for development at the grassroots across the 44 local government areas of the state. The governor made the pronouncement on Sunday, May 4,2025 at a meeting with the councillors. The event was held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano. He told his audience that the projects he was planning to implement are in the areas of schools’ renovations, drilling of boreholes, building of dispensaries and local scholarship among others.
This was contained in a statement signed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, director general, media and publicity, office of the governor.
However, conscious of the fact that the needs of the communities would vary according to their needs, the governor admonished the councillors to consult with their people before submitting the type of project to be done for their communities, adding that whatever projects chosen for each community must be those that will have direct bearing with the lives of people in the affected areas.
The statement added that the 484 elected councillors were being engaged by his government to ensure that people felt the impact of his government at the remote areas of the society. Governor Abba Yusuf said the projects to be submitted by the councillors would compliment projects like the five-kilometer roads being executed in each of the 44 local government areas of the state.
