Oyintiloye, House of Assembly member in Osun State representing Obokun Constituency, has called on Muslims and the entire Nigerians to sustain the lessons of Ramadan by maintaining peace, tolerance, love and understanding.
In his Eid-el-Fitri message, during a special prayer session to mark the end of the 2015 Ramadan season organised by Obokun Youth Muslim Forum at Ibokun, the lawmaker said by allowing these lessons to live with them, it would enhance communal and harmonious living.
Oyintiloye who condemned activities of extremists especially Boko Haram, said the mindless killings and perpetrations of evil in the name of Islamic Jihad by the group was an act of wickedness.
Noting that Jihad itself is not about extremism, Oyintiloye stressed that those killing fellow human beings through insurgency and other means in the name of Jihad by hiding under religion have only demonstrated lack of knowledge of Islam.
The lawmaker further said that the Ramadan teaching of piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful co-existence with others, tolerance, honesty dedication to duty and understanding should be allowed to remain for the benefit and greater glory of Nigeria.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitri, we must ensure that lessons of Ramadan are not allowed to go with the month. We must live with tolerance, love, understanding and mutual respect among ourselves irrespective of faith.
“As Nigerians, we must unite, as exemplified by Ramadan, against terrorism that is taking Nigeria and its people by the jugular.
“People must sustain the pace with which they worshipped God during Ramadan and continue by devoting most of their time to listening to Islamic teachings and apply it into systems in Nigeria.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitri, it is my hope and prayer that Ramadan’s spiritual lessons and the teachings of piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful co-existence with others, tolerance, honesty and dedication to duty will remain with us.
“We should however pray for the peace and prosperity of our country. Most importantly, we should not return to the social vices we abandoned during Ramadan”, he stressed.
Oyintiloye admonished Nigerians to exercise patience and allow for systematic re-alignment of economic condition of Nigeria.
Expressing high level of optimism with President Mohammadu Buhari’s leadership, Oyintiloye gave assurance that the country’s economic situation would soon improve.
Commenting, the Chairman of the Forum, Amir Abdulwasiu Kolawole lauded the lawmaker for identifying with Muslim and other religious worshippers in his constituency, especially the youths.
‎Kolawole commended the lawmaker for making himself accessible to his community and gave the assurance that the forum would support the present administration morally and spiritually in its bid to foster unity among the teeming populace in the state.
