The Majemite Political Vanguard in Delta State has in a statement made available to the media denounced any link to one of the suspects arrested recently by the Enugu zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The suspect, one Simon Majemite, was said to have been arrested along with 36 others on July 21 in connection with internet fraud.
The Majemite Political Vanguard said regrettably the name was used in the headline by the media, apparently to attract the attention of readers.
The statement signed by Ovie Edomie, head of media and public Communication, Fred Majemite Political Vanguard, said since the publication of the report Fred Majemite, a Lawyer, two time Commissioner, and grassroots politician and who is the arrow head of the family has been inundated with inquiries from home and abroad by people who wanted to know whether the arrested person was related to the popular politician
It said no member of the Majemite family, least of all that of the politician who recently aspired to run for governor in the state, has any link with the suspect.
Edomie’s statement reads in part, “One of the suspects Majemite Simon has been inadvertently linked to the Majemites, a popular name in Delta State politics whereas the suspect is not related to any member of the popular Majemite family in Ughelli, Delta State.”
