Diego Maradona, one of the world’s most celebrated footballers is dead. He died Wednesday of cardiac arrest, days after undergoing treatment for brain damage. Born on October 30, 1960, Maradona who ruled the world of football and became perhaps the second most adored footballer of skill after now 80-year Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé. It could be said that he did for Argentina what Pele did for Brazil. But the two of them ruled the world in their times. However, Maradona could be said to have more fans, not because of his higher number of goals but due to the theatrics he brought to his actions on the field.
Though he stopped playing football following an injury, he became an iconic manager of the game.
He also served as a major source of inspiration for Argentine teams at international tournaments. He shared FIFA’s Player of the 20th century award with Pele.
