Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, also announced that an additional N3,000 has been approved for federal workers, making theirs 30,000 naira, he therefore announced that the states have the liberty to adjust the salaries of its workers if they also feel it is necessary.

The Tripartite Committee on Review of National Minimum wage had however earlier submitted a report recommending a N30,000 minimum wage for workers, which makes the 27,000 approved by the council of state, 3000 short of the recommended figure.
