The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN has declared a 6-month national prayer for the country.

The prayer is scheduled to start in Julythis year with “Family Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration” on the last Sunday of each of the months.

Felix Femi Ajakaye, Bishop of Ekiti diocese made the declaration yesterday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital during the installation ceremony of Monsignor Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo, Bishop-elect of Abeokuta diocese.

Ajakaye also corrected the earlier claim by some national dailies that the ongoing National conference has suggested that churches and mosques be made to pay taxes.

Ajakaye said what was decided at the national conference was that “investments and businesses” belonging to churches and mosques be “taxed.”
