Police Authorities used water canon to disperse the milling crowd near the French consulate in Karachi.

The protest is part of a nationwide rally called by the Jamat-e-Islami religious party.

Charlie Hebdo featured a cartoon of Muhammad in its latest issue, a week after armed men killed it’s top cartoonists.

On Thursday, Pakistani politicians passed a motion condemning the publication.
