The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken sweeping disciplinary action at its 2025 Elective National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, expelling several prominent members including Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and suspended National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

Also expelled were Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, and other members accused of sustained anti-party activities dating back to the 2023 general elections.

The decision, announced on November 15, 2025, was ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates, marking one of the most decisive internal purges in the party’s recent history. Party leaders said the move was essential to restore discipline, unity, and strategic focus as the PDP prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The convention, however, was not without controversy. It proceeded amid conflicting court orders and notable boycotts by key figures, including Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke—further evidence of deepening internal divisions.

Despite the tension, PDP officials insisted that the expulsion of high-profile figures sends a clear message that the party will no longer tolerate actions considered harmful to its collective interest.

“The party must move forward. Discipline is non-negotiable,” one senior official said shortly after the announcement.

The convention continues as the party strategizes for a stronger national comeback.
