The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Friday Eboka, has ordered investigation into the assault of the Leader of Etche Legislative Assembly, Cynthia Nwala, by aides of the local government chairman.
Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, said the commissioner had asked the Okehi Divisional Police Office to transfer the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.
Nwala was stripped bare on Tuesday by people she alleged were aides of the council chairman, Obinna Anyanwu, who also smashed the windscreens of her car and broke the windows to retrieve the mace of the legislative assembly.

The local government chairman has however denied having a hand in the assault of Nwala. His Chief Press Secretary, Robinson Oluo said there was no pictorial or video evidence connecting the chairman to the incident.
He said the chairman has opened investigation into the allegations and called on people who witnessed the incident to come forward and testify.
