Jega Cautions Politicians against sharp practices in Osun

Attahiru Jega, chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said giving inducement for electoral purpose is an offence. He said this at a stakeholders forum organised by the commission in Osogbo, Osun State. The meeting had in attendance candidates for this Saturday’s governorship election and other political leaders.

He said, “we expect security agents to be vigilant so that those who distribute money will be prevented and those who attempt will be arrested and prosecuted”.

While assuring the audience of a peaceful, free, fair and credible election, Jega urged the electorate, party supporters and agents to play by the rules. Sulaiman Abba, acting Inspector General of Police, IGP read riot acts to would-be electoral thugs, “My men are fully ready for you”. Stakeholders including religious leaders in the state attended the meeting.
