The Department of State Security has detained Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education on Monday morning. The former Minister disclosed this on her twitter handle.
Ezekwesili was on her way to London, UK to appear on a BBC-hard-talk program billed for tomorrow before her passport was withheld by the DSS.
Apparently ruffled by the development, Ezekwesili said, “is this democracy? I am being detained by the SSS @ Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,” adding that “the SSS has refused to give my passport to me.”
The former education Minister has been in the forefront of the ‘Bring Back Our Girls,’ crusade.
It will be recalled that over 200 girls were abducted from the Government Girls School,
Chibok, Borno State, on April 14.
As at the time of filing this report the DSS was yet to issue a statement explaining why Ezekwesili was arrested and her passport seized.
