The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has temporarily shut down its campus after a tragic road accident claimed the life of one of its students.

According to reports, the incident occurred near the university’s main gate, sparking widespread grief and unrest among students. The victim, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed, was reportedly hit by a speeding vehicle on Friday evening.

In a statement released by the university management, LAUTECH announced the immediate suspension of academic activities, citing safety concerns and the need to restore calm on campus.

“The university management deeply regrets the unfortunate loss of one of our students in a road accident. We have decided to suspend all academic activities with immediate effect to honour the deceased and ensure the safety of our students,” the statement read.

The management also assured that an investigation is underway in collaboration with law enforcement to determine the cause of the accident and prevent future occurrences.

Students have since taken to social media to express their condolences and frustration over recurring road safety issues around the campus.

The university has not yet announced when academic activities will resume.
