The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Chinese nationals working on a major road construction project in the state.

The victims were part of the team handling the BUA Bode Saadu–Kaiama–Kosubosu highway when armed men stormed the site and whisked them away.

While security operatives search for the abducted foreigners, the Nigerian Army has reported multiple counter-kidnapping breakthroughs across the North, rescuing several victims in Kaduna and Borno.

In Kaduna State, troops of Operation Peace Shield rescued 10 kidnapped women after launching a special operation in the early hours of Friday in Sanga Local Government Area.

Similarly, troops of Operation HADIN KAI freed 12 teenage girls abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP in Mussa District, Askira/Uba LGA of Borno State.

The girls, aged 15 to 20, were kidnapped on 23 November while farming but were successfully recovered on 29 November after an intelligence-driven mission in southern Borno.

In another coordinated counter-offensive, troops of Sector 5, Operation Peace Shield crushed a kidnapping syndicate in Kaduna, rescuing 10 more victims and recovering weapons, cash and ransom funds. The hostages — including elderly women, children and a male adult — had been abducted from farmlands in Ungwan Nungu on 29 November.

Security forces engaged the kidnappers around 6:40 a.m. on 5 December during an attempt to collect ransom from relatives of the victims. The criminals were overwhelmed by superior firepower and fled into nearby forests, abandoning the hostages.

Recovered items include a fabricated AK-47 rifle, 9mm ammunition and ₦1.6 million — identified as part of ransom payments.

The Nigerian Army has assured citizens of its unwavering resolve to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks while restoring peace in affected communities nationwide.
