Tunji Abayomi
Tunji Abayomi, lawyer, politician and rights activist has said he will officially register his interest to run for the office of governor in Ondo State when he launches his campaign on April 7 in Akure. He announced this on Tuesday while receiving five APC lawmakers from Ondo State House of Assembly. Abayomi who is contesting for the third time said he is contented with all that God has done for him, but he is not happy with the living condition of people of Ondo. “I am joining the race out of concern for the ordinary people.There appear to be so much pain and toil which are unnecessary. They need a compassionate, intelligent person who can come up with new ideas and who is disciplined in the choices he makes” he said. Mukaila Musa, the minority leader, who led other lawmakers to the pre-declaration reception in Lagos, described Abayomi as a forthright, intelligent man who has always loved and fought for the ordinary people. Corroborating him, Demola Sodiq, legal adviser to APC, Lagos, and representative of Henry Ajomale chairman APC,Lagos,said Abayomi is no doubt, the best man to represent APC in the election. He, however, stressed the need for the party to get its primaries and structure right in Ondo State. “There should be no imposition of the candidate, let delegates decide. There will be pre and post-primary crises, you must manage these very well if you must succeed at the polls”, he warned.
Other sons and daughters of Ondo resident in Lagos were at the reception. The lawmakers will also be visiting and interact with their counterparts at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
