Twitter is on fire as one of its most popular medical influencers, known as “Asexual Doctor,” has been exposed as a fraud. The man behind the account, Choji Ebenezer Stephen, who boasts over 258,000 followers, has been scamming unsuspecting fans for years while pretending to be a UK-based doctor.
Investigations reveal that Choji is not a licensed doctor at all. Instead, he is a suspended medical student from Bingham University, Jos, Nigeria, where he was stopped at 600 level and never graduated. Despite this, he built an online persona as a doctor shuttling between the UK and Nigeria, using the credibility to scam followers of amounts ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦1 million, and even $450 to $200 for international victims.

The scam stretched back to 2019, beginning with paid social media growth schemes where he collected money and disappeared, before moving on to selling medical textbooks. Eventually, as his influence grew on Twitter, he started advertising medical products—again taking payments and ghosting customers. Victims from the US, Dubai, Kenya, and Nigeria have shared receipts of being defrauded.
One of his victims, a Kenyan man, reported losing $450 before being blocked. Another alleged that Choji blackmailed those who confronted him. Even popular figures like Jon Doe had hinted at his fraudulent ways but never exposed his identity.
