The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the successful execution of precision airstrikes that eliminated several terrorists and destroyed key militant structures in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest.

According to a statement from the NAF Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI carried out the strikes on Monday, April 19, 2026.

The operation was based on credible intelligence, which was corroborated by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms. This confirmed the presence of active terrorist elements concealed within fortified structures and bunkers in the area.

NAF air assets engaged the targets with precision-guided munitions, successfully destroying the structures, neutralising multiple terrorists, and eliminating important logistics facilities. A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the effectiveness of the strikes.

The NAF stated that the sustained tempo of air operations continues to exert intense pressure on terrorist networks in the North-East, degrading their capabilities and forcing them into increasingly desperate positions.

Live video footage of the airstrike, showing the moment NAF aircraft neutralised the terrorists and destroyed several militant structures at their enclave in the Yuwe axis of Sambisa Forest, has been released and is already circulating widely on social media.

This latest operation underscores the Nigerian military’s ongoing commitment to rooting out remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists who have long used the dense Sambisa Forest as a hideout and operational base in Borno State.

The strikes come as part of broader efforts under Operation HADIN KAI to restore peace and security to the region, with the Air Force playing a critical role through intelligence-driven aerial interdiction missions.

As of the time of this report, no official casualty figures beyond “several terrorists” have been released, and there has been no independent verification from the ground.

The development has been welcomed by many Nigerians who continue to call for sustained military pressure until the insurgency is completely defeated.
