President Goodluck Jonathan has while accepting the Presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Thursday announced that he will run his 2015 re-election race with Namadi Sambo, the incumbent vice president.
Jonathan was earlier declared winner of the party’s presidential primary after winning all the 2,812 votes of the election held at the Eagles Square, Abuja between December 10 and 11.
There have been speculations that Jonathan would not pick Sambo for his second term bid because he is seen as an unpopular candidate in the Northern part of Nigeria.
Clearly the contest is now between Jonathan and whoever emerges as the candidate of the major opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC whose presidential primary election is currently ongoing in Lagos.
